I'm flying from Calgary to Brisbane next week on AC in economy (haven't been flying AC long, so no eupgrade credits). I've managed to at least get an exit row for the flight from YVR - SYD. Anyone have any experience on a Trans-Pacific with Air Canada. What can I be looking 'forward' to.

I flew to Oz last year on Qantas with the A380, and I'm looking forward to checking out the 777.

I have done this route and others TPac on the 777 ... they are long flights but comfortable IMHO. You will get a number of meals during the flight as well as complimentary beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). I find the seating quite comfortable in Y and having flown the A380 from HKG-SIN I much preferred the 777 on AC.

You should also get a blanket and pillow in your seat.

I haven't flown to Australia, but have crossed to Asia several times. I concur with ACMM's assessment. The 777 is comfortable in Y. En route to Asia there are usually two hot meals and a snack. The cheap ear buds are also complimentary.

I have had two IFE failures between YYZ and HKG. Having a book handy might be a good idea.

Enjoy the flight and tell us about it when you get back.

... or a smart device with your own movies or television shows and music :)

Indeed let us know about the trip when it occurs :) I will try to remember to tell you my LHR-> YYZ meal on Saturday (J - sorry :)) and my YYZ-ICN flight on Sunday (currently - ouch! - Y)

No way would I tempt the fates and get on a 15 hour flight without some backup entertainment. I'll have my nook and laptop at minimum. In truth the goal would be to sleep as much as possible as I've only got a day on the ground before I start the project (work trip).

And all the seats on the AC 777 have power, so you won't have any issues with running out of batteries.

Here is the menu in J for LHR to YYZ today. Tomorrow I ICN there will be no menu in Y.

I had the lamb last May from LHR-YEG. I'm looking forward to the same route in October, and hoping for an upgrade.

I've flown to SYD in Y and J. J is clearly nicer, but Y is surprisingly bearable - all the more so if you are getting an exit row.

Just landed in ICN from YVR in Y - managed to snag the A-C seating as the flight was not overly heavy in the back - front all checked in full ...
Will post the J class menu a little later...

Make it a lamb, and maybe we'll have it on the menu! Although I'll admit that I could well settle for some curry goat in J as well ... :D

I think I'll need to sacrifice a lamb to get an upgrade. I wonder if all the lamb I intend to eat in Oz will count :D

Well crap  . The travel agent (required to use on a work booking) led me astray, he said he got me in the exit row, which is true, but the middle seat on 31 are just regular economy seats with no extra legroom. Guess it sardine time tonight :(

Try calling AC directly and seeing what you can do? May be a tad late now but worth a try?

I've got a middle seat waaaaaay back for my UA flight to NRT tomorrow, so I feel your pain. I'll have to hope the UA agent at the airport will show some mercy on me.

Thanks for the info everyone. Made it to Brissie without much pain. Grabbed a row with no one in the middle seat for the flight from Vancouver. Great to have the extra space.

Great to hear! Sorry I did not get a chance to post any more menus - how was the food? On the flight from YVR-ICN it was a choice (in Y) of a chicken with rice dish - or a beef with Pasta ... both edible...

Agree on the extra space - from YVR-ICN I managed to score an empty A-C row on the 763 ... not great but made it more tolerable - so I am glad you had no middle in your row.

The food was pretty good, especially for airplane food. Sounds similar, I had a chicken and rice dish but the other choice was a pasta, sandwich for a snack, but I elected to sleep instead. Breakfast was choice of omelet or pancake. The Qantas flight from SYD-BNE had a nice biscuit with cream and jam for a snack.
I've got another Qantas flight tomorrow morning out to Mount Isa to do some work for a few weeks.
