Advanced purchase == No thanks for me. I've never taken any of these advance purchase non-refundables

I don't mind a pre-paid rate to benefit from the savings but my husband will not budge (even though he's the most frugal person on the planet). Simply because it's non-refundable and no changes are allowed.

Are hotels banking on customers being so thrilled with the low price they'll book, then not be able to stay, so they'll pocket the revenue?

I have often booked non-refundable rates when I am reasonably certain that I'll be able to make it as planned. So far, I have never had to cancel. Given that my wife has to reserve her vacation time pretty much early in the year for the rest of the year, I have a pretty good idea when we'll travel. Of course, if the price difference is only a few bucks compared to AAA or some other more flexible rate, I won't do that.

"Advance Payment deals" are usually married to an advance purchase (e.g. 14 or 21 days) requirement - so your concept is moot. You may strike gold with a Priceline booking on the DoA, but then you don't earn any points. Gotcha;)

I am running into an issue with these rates. Today at the Hilton Woodcliff Lake in NJ, they were refusing to print my bill because it was booked through a 3rd party. It was booked on hilton.com though with their sale rate.

How do i go about proving I stayed when Hilton doesn't properly credit this? I am only concerned because i've been bitten with leaving without a printout before and having it not credit.

Why is hilton.com prepaid rates considered 3rd party and refusal to provide my final bill?
