Anyone booked an AM flight to South America with Skymiles before? The AM chart lists 90K for LAX to EZE RT in lie-flat J on 777 which seems like a good deal to me even if Aeromexico isn't the best airline. However, I can't find anyone talking about redemption on this airline even though it is SkyTeam.

Related and kind of newbie question... I know PM/DM can cancel my award tix online with no fee (except inane T-72 rule). What about on Skymiles partner award tickets like this? Again, I know this is a newbie question, but I've only booked DL, KL, and AF tickets online and never had to cancel an intl award before. However, in this case, I have another trip booked that I would cancel and take Aeromexico instead if I can indeed secure an itn like this.

In regards to your cancellation question, you shouldn't have any problem making changes or cancellations on awards for partner airlines with no fee as a PM/DM.

Can't help you with previous experience on booking the AM flight but if you're redeeming DL miles, you will be working with the DL award chart which would be 100K r/t for LAX-EZE in J.... if available.

Thanks for confirmation on PM cancellation for partner awards - that is wonderful news that makes me rest easy (for 2011 at least).

Also, good catch on Skymiles award chart vs AM award chart. Even at 100k it is still a good redemption value if I can snag it.

    Thanks again!

It was a good redemption when it was 50k in biz.

True 50K is a steal, but even at 100K it is a much better deal than 200-250K on Delta metal for the avg USA-EZE RT flight award :)

What person in their right mind uses 250k for a DL award? Unless it's a RTW ticket, it doesn't make sense.

I agree, but I'm sure lots of uninformed people book 200K+ RTs in J on Delta regularly. Not everyone reads about strategies online or even knows that few partner awards show online.

if you were at the Chicago DO, you would have heard beaubo's story about his uncle cashing in 900k Amex MR pts when he could have spent just 150k for a slightly less convenient itinerary... still in business.
