Now that we are coming up on the end of the 2nd quarter promotion, anyone heard anything about what Hyatt's Q3 2011 promotion will be?

While the current promo happens to end at the end of June (the end of Q2 2011), they have traditionally not aligned their promos with calendar quarters. So instead of looking for a Q3 quarter it's probably better to look for the next promo, to start some time in the future and last for an undetermined amount of time. And I don't recall reading/hearing any rumors about that one so far.

Waiting for FFN, the sooner the better. Maybe in the Fall?

The last promos was so lame, I've not stayed at a Hyatt in a while (June 7th, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong).

And usually, if I have a choice, I prefer Hyatt if the properties are comparable.

SPGs promo is not even close to the best we've seen, but it's a lot better than 5K points every other night, so I've moved my Hyatt business back to SPG for now.

I know I'm just one guy, but I added up how much money I've spent since May 1st through the summer on SPG. 18 stays and around 3900USD... Hyatt got only 6 stays and they would have gotten the majority of the stays I gave SPG.

I hope they come up with something better for the next quarter.

While not the best, I actually quite liked Hyatt's last promo. 2 nights for 5k points, eh, why not? :)

They're running a "5 stays/get 19,000 Southwest Points" right now - ends 8/31/11. Not a bad promo, and one I expect to take advantage of as soon as the SPG promo ends 7/31.

My guess is FFN or double stays/nights. I could see the latter being more of a possibility.

Still nothing and here it is almost August...I could really use some FFN! How come no chains are doing free nights this year? C'mon!

At this point I don't expect any promo in August. Which is a bummer (for me, not Hyatt) because I've got a whole slew of Hyatt nights booked in August. Hopefully September, and stay-based, so that everyones' SMD3 Hyatt stays will all count! :D

I cannot in good conscience give any more than 5 stays / nights to Hyatt to get the 19K Southwest points through the end of August. Guess I'll have to go for status or bonuses elsewhere.

Promotion wise 2011 has been one of those years where none of the chains have done anything to blow me out of the water. It will be interesting to see if anyone does anything by year end.

Priority and Hilton both have average promotions for Q3, Starwood are yet to announce. Based on what is out there Hyatt don't really have to do much to compete.

My private rep sent me an email about the Sept promo. Let me dig it out.

Just kidding, of course, but I expect something good in Sept. :)

I sincerely doubt there will be any hints from HGP on details on any 3Q promotion...other than perhaps "watch your email"....given recent events.....

I concur. It is too bad that sometimes they tend to be over secretive, but I am cautiously optimistic that Hyatt's next promo will be stellar.

Ack, it looks like there is a promo out there for 5K or 3K points for every 3 nights until the end of September but it is targeted. Unfortunately, I am not one of their target customers.

I do not think this is Hyatt's next big promo.

As of right now they do not. But they will soon, I'd guess. Other chains are coming out with their Q3s. Hyatt won't be left in the marketing without one.

I'd say it depends on how the Hyatt employee who wrote that post defines the word "upcoming." It could be a week or it could be a month. I believe Hyatt will have something though. SPG is also on an overlap period without a promotion so Hyatt is not alone like they were to start the year.

If I remember correctly, the last promo of 2010 started sometime in mid-September and ended just before the holidays in December. So perhaps we'll hear something in a week or two with an equal amount of time before the promotion actually starts.

Actually can't say I'm surprised that this is what they decided to roll out. The travel industry appears to be in better health this year over last. Only the results after this promo is over will show whether they got what they wanted out of it.
