Just downing a Summer Ale so couldn't resist asking what the locals thought the the brew. It cost a premium to buy it at a speciality beer store here in Edmonton but the mood struck me while walking through the cooler to try something different.

I like the beer despite what I find is a sharp taste at first swig. Maybe like Brooklyn itself it grows on you the more you get to know it. ;)

    Yes, FWIW, I like it..
    And I'm a Manhattan guy ;) LOL :D
It's not Guinness, surely, & I do prefer Bass Ale, but still.. I think it's very nice :)

I found it for sale in Shanghai last month in a specialty market in the IFC Mall. Haven't seen it around home.

tcook, About 18 months ago, I lead a mini-do on a tour of lower Manhattan. Eventually, we headed to the BB. $4.00 per beer, and it's super fresh. It's very crowded and noisy, think college frat house. You could break my arm to head back, but off-peak only.

I like it... there are normally around 3 varieties of it on sale at my local specialty market and its usually at my local beer hall as well.

I may hold you to that one day, dh. I'm a sucker for brewery tours and I mean that in the most literal sense. :D

The tour is beat. A girl that doesn't know what she's talking about stands in front of 3 steel vats. After 5 minutes you realize that you're wasting your time, and head back to the counter to grab a beer. There's nothing to see.

While I enjoy their beers (their Pennant Ale the most), I always had a major major problem with them.

Up until recently all of their beers were brewed Upstate. Now a couple lines are brewed in Brooklyn, but it still bothers me that that they call themselves "Brooklyn Brewery". Should be called "Utica Brewery".

Lots of beers are brewed in Utica. It's the MKE of NY. :D

Had the Brookly Lager and their Winter Brew yesterday at Foley's on 33rd/5th. Both were excellent, but I really liked the Winter Brew.

I am from Brooklyn and not a fan of Brooklyn Brewery. I did enjoy a tour of the old Brewery a couple of summers ago. They have since opened a bigger brewery and I would like to do the tour there too.

Since opening their new facility, more of the beer is being brewed in Brooklyn...

A tour would be something I could see myself signing up for also and am planning to explore more of Brooklyn next trip there some time in late 2012.

Maybe a MilePoint meetup event could be set up for when you come to Brooklyn... Definitely a great excuse to incorporate a visit to the brewery in!

Sounds like a plan. I'll check back when I've firmed up by dates and we can go from there and hopefully we can scare up a bunch of MPers. :)

  17. Yup, I'm a fan. If anyone's eager to try Brooklyn but can't find it in their locale, give halftimebeverage.com a look. You can buy a 12 pack for about $50 all-in, but $4/bottle isn't a bad deal.

 $24 a 6-pack!! Have I been out of NY too long or is that just a tad pricey?

I don't know about your block, but where I live I'm sure I can purchase this much cheaper. ;)
