I joined (and verified my account) back on the 3rd Feb and have been avidly reading and searching on the system since then.

I didn't post anything as I didn't having anything NEW to post or seen anything to answer. I was trying desperately to maintain the 'signal to noise ratio' over here!

Just posted and I'm up as 'New Member'.

Will be gutted if I missed my 'original member', especially since I posted the beta link to a number of others. Would have just posted nonsence had I known.

Nonsense works, but it's better do do a few content posts- share info, or ask questions about things you wonder about, and by the end of the day you may discover that you're an "original".

There is a long post of how to get original memeber in "Off Topic" - "Join date for "original member" "

Combination of date joined (still might be open) and points.... points are earned by posts and "likes" - just find some good stuff to post and you should be there!

    Good luck

Thanks, I found the thread you posted just a minute ago.

[I do maintain however, but as a general point, that no matter what the objective for a site, getting good signal to noise is essential.]

I'm in the same boat. Even on FT, I tended to post only when I thought it would add to the conversation. Or at least clarify. ;)
Guess I've got to start posting meaningless drivel. :D

that works, but there are over a hundred forums here, so there's also lots of good places where we can post meaningful drivel.

When I was young and single, I was torn between whether I was seeking a deep, meaningless relationship or a shallow, meaningful relationship.

Remember that during beta, we were also stressing the system to see what it would take. That is where the counting threads, liking threads, etc. came in handy. I think a post, no matter how trivial, mattered during that time. Yes... it was noise, but helpful noise.

Verry good point, totally valid. I just think people should be aware of the extent to which a number of us are concerned about noise. Anyway....

    Mission Accomplished.

    Thanks to all.

Hey Lisa! Likewise, and it's been way too long since we've met!
