I just had a thought that it might be easier for newbie FF to understand all the abbreviations used for each of the airlines. What about adding the airline code in the forum title. ie:

    Delta | Skymiles (DL)
Southwest | Airtran (Including Rapid Rewards) (WN)

Or both, and adding an airport code lookup function. I hate going elsewhere for that.

I thought about a list, but that would be a thread that they would have to find. With it part of the forum title, it would be more subliminal and would probably come more naturally to most people.

Airport code lookup would be great. Having it as a seperate pop-up screen would probably be the best.

The airline code could also automatically appear in the url for the thread that we see at the top of the page, as happens on FT, so that if you click on a new or trending thread from the homepage, you know what forum/carrier it concerns. I've responded to things not realizing that the question wasn't about the airline I had assumed, which can cause some confusion. I admit I'm also in the habit from FT of looking for a forum shorthand identifier in the url as I navigate.

We accomplished that and more with our dynamic glossary we introduced a few months back. Now go back to the airline codes for DL and WN and highlight them or double click on them. You'll see the glossary definition pop up in the upper right hand corner of your screen. Use it on all the other acronyms you see and of course report to us if some are missing. We have a few thousand of them in place right now, but know there are more. Thanks.
