Right now if you go to view results and click on the vote counts, you are able to view the members who have casted the votes in that option. Is there a way to cast the votes without displaying the member's name in the result page in case he/she wants a bit of privacy? E.g. there's a age vote in the OT forum, what if I want to help to get a more accurate distribution, but I don't feel comfortable telling everyone I am over 60 (no that's not my real age :p)

When I created the male/female poll it gave me the option of making the poll public or private. As I recall, the public option is already checked and you have to de-select it to make it private.

I think once the poll is created, the user can't hide their vote.

Reminder to those creating polls--make 'em private! Would be nice if MP made the default private.

I see. Didn't notice the fine print underneath the options.

Oops, I was wrong on the default....I just looked and you DO have to select the "public" box.

so that would be a no then? [IMG]

Once it is set to public, if you participate it is public.

Silly question - can you always tell before you vote if it is private or public? The one that I voted on said it would public, but didn't see this thread suggesting that other types of polls were available.

If you can always tell, I like that as a feature - tho it would be good if it were more obvious to poll-creators that they could make it private...

Agree. A disclaimer that says 'This is a public poll your vote will be shown" is a good idea. Most things need to be privacy evaluated.

Yep. And if you're paranoid like me, you won't vote if it's something sensitive, even if they tell you it's anonymous...heh heh!

It does say this on all the MP polls I've seen.

Have there been sensitive polls on m.? Or the corollary, are you always truthful on anonymous internet fora?

Yes there is. In preparing a poll, you see an option for "Display votes publicly". While i agree that this might be more explanatory, it's the developers code and not really worth trying to hack for that. However, having said that, we will make sure in our "owners manual" to MilePoint that you have information that explains this better.

Also, when a member chooses to vote in a poll, the poll makes mention if the voter's ID will be made public with this "Your vote will be publicly visible. I can see the value of adding a similar disclaimer to the private poll to let members know that they can vote without worrying about the visibility of their vote. We'll see what can be done but hope you understand this is the developers product and I want to be very careful about hacking anything. As noted, a good "owners manual" will help this.

Thank you. The answer is certainly related to the way that the OP built the poll.
