What triggers this? During beta I used to get it maybe once every day or two, now I see it very rarely, perhaps once every couple of weeks. There doesn't seem to be logic about when it appears

I have neglected to ask this question. Thanks, Gargoyle, for doing it. The answer must be arcane.;)

Only ever had it from safari on the iPhone - never on Chrome on a windows nor linux PC.

I've only seen it once or twice, way back during beta when I might have been using IE rather than Chrome.

Definitely occurred more on IE than Chrome...agree with this.
Also on Droid phones would get this (and still do more often than not)

I'll see what I can find about this. I haven't run into it yet myself.

Ok, got a quick answer on why this happens.

The short version of why this happens is that you are too fast for your internet connection/computer to keep up when you click the link. :p

The more technical version of why this happens is when the like button has been clicked before the page has time to completely load the code that controls the like button functionality you will get this page. This explains why it appears to happen more often on Android and iPhone platforms as they often are using slower data connections and take a bit longer than most computers to render the page fully.

Thanks Tim, that explains why I got it three times in a row using my 3G WinMobile phone the other day.

    Thanks, Tim!

Good to know it's not my intelligence that gets challenged when I see the are-you-sure-you-want-to-like-this-post MP popup quiz once in a while. :D :p

However, if the warning message is triggered by an internet connection delay, or relay if you will, that means it's not any error on the "human" side. In such case, maybe it's better to "coin" such "miss-connect" incidents as "Slow down, MP (or the system) can't keep up with you right now!" or something to that effect, so the recipients know clearly it's a technical issue with no foul play.

The current wording seems to imply whoever gets this message is either not knowing what s/he is doing or doing something s/he shouldn't be doing. That generally triggers unpleasant emotional reaction from the human. ;)

I feel the same way whenever I see the black and red box "you must wait XX seconds before this action" and even worse when the box says "you aren't authorized" or "member has restricted..." It sounds like we've done something wrong or have behaved badly.
