SPG is pleased to announce our next global promotion, SPG Earn Away.. Registered members can earn double Starpoints on all eligible stays at more than 1,000 participating Starwood hotels and resorts May 1 through July 31, 2014. If your stay includes a Sunday (Saturday at hotels in the Middle East) you’ll earn triple Starpoints instead. It doesn’t get better than that. Register by June 30, 2014 at spg.com/earnaway.

For a list of the hotels that are not participating visit the registration page at spg.com/earnaway. Eligible bookings made prior to the promotion registration are eligible, so feel free to book now at SPG.com or the SPG apps for iPhone, Android, or iPad.

thanks Christopher for the update ! sounds good.

quick question, if i am booking not via a online travel agency but via my company corporate travel agent, eg AMEX Travel (who books our flights for business trips as well) and pass the hotel my SPG membership number, would it be considered an eligible stay ?

Typically, yes. Do you earn points on those stays normally?

thanks for the feedback, so far, for the few business trips, i have booked my stays directly on the hotel website, but more recently there is a company directive that the hotel stay is recommended to be booked by the corporate travel agent as well, so was just wondering ;)

If these are currently counting as eligible stays/nights for status-earning potential, they will count for this offer as well.

About the only logical answer I can give you is if you are having it booked a rate that is normally eligible to earn Starpoints, then you should earn eligible stays/nights.

My apologies, but I can't commit to anything more specific than this because I have no idea what rate AMEX Travel will be booking on your behalf.

thanks, AMEX Travel booked via a corporate rate our company has with SPG....i think the more pertinent question is the mode of booking, ie SPG counts as eligible stays if they were booked via SPG online or mobile apps, and does not count when bookings are made via OTA such as Expedia. So a corporate travel agency i was wondering, falls within the same category as a conventional OTA according to SPG T&C

I think you'll find that it does, assuming there are no other factors at play that work against the T&C's. Feel free to let us all know what happens when you complete a stay with a reservation booked under these circumstances.

It's too bad I don't get points on stays on Conference Rates.

Dumb question: would a one-night stay on a Sunday get triple points under this offer?

There is no minimum length of stay requirement to earn from this promotion, as long as all of the tenets of the offer are met.

The "Rule of Thumb" on this is that if you pay the hotel, it counts. If you pay some other entity (Expedia for example) it does not.

With revenue and occupancy up, I don't see promos of that sort of value coming anytime soon.

Thank you. What I like about the SPG Earn away is that there is no gap between the old and new SPG promo. Until now there were gaps of 15-30 days between SPG promos. Another positive enhancement for SPG.
