I had a one night stay at the Crowne Plaza in early February 2013.
The hotel is very close to Hakata Station, in the centre of Fukuoka.
It's a big hotel, decorated in the typical Crowne Plaza style.
I have stayed at several CPs in Japan in the past, but this has been the best experience so far.

    The Good:
    1. extremely well-trained and courteous front desk staff and procedures
    2. clean and stylish rooms
    3. good plat treatment: upgrade and verbal thanks
    4. offer to buy up to lounge access and breakfast for 3000 yen
    5. quiet rooms (no outside or corridor noise) on the 11th floor

    The Bad:
    1. no complimentary water in room
    2. the room service menu is extortionate (like, 800 yen for a coke)

    Overall:
This is a great hotel with a good location and very smooth service. I'll definitely be staying here again.

The checkin process was what really sold me on this place. The agent did everything perfectly -asked if I lived in Japan (it bugs me when people ask me for ID as a resident), thanked me for being a PC member, said they'd upgraded me as a plat, offered me the chance to buy up to lounge and breakfast. All of that with a smile. Best training I've seen at an IHG hotel.

There have been times I walked away after check-in aggravated because it took longer than my taxes.
It's nice when the clerk has it down and whisks you through the process. ;)
