So after reading through a few threads I just want to see if I have this right. If I get an Amex Platinum card and add my wife, daughter and son as authorized users we will have the following lounge access:

    • When Flying DL or AA, each of us will have free access to the respective lounges using the platinum card.
    • We will have free access to US lounges using the platinum card whether or not we are flying US.
    • We can each get a Priority Pass Select Card which will get each of us free access to Priority pass lounges subject to the rules of the lounge (ie; boarding pass from same airline).
Please let me know if this right or correct any misinformation.

    Thanks.

    1) Yes, and each of you could bring in up to 2 guests free
    2) Yes, and each of you could bring in up to 2 guests free
    3) Yes, and I don't believe there are any restrictions about boarding passes for the PP lounges. You will not be able to use ALL of the Priority Pass lounges--CO/UA lounges are excluded from the PP Select list--but I do not think there are restrictions on other lounges part of the Priority Pass network. Guests can be brought into the lounges for $27.

And also don't forget that each additional cardholder can apply for Global Entry, NEXUS or Sentri, pay with their own card, and Amex will automatically reimburse the application fee. And that each person will be entitled to Starwood Preferred Guest Gold status and higher status at several rental car companies.

These benefits are more easily understandable so I didn't need to clarify them. They are, though, really nice perks to get from the card. The SPG gold will be nice since I'm platinum with Marriott and Priority Club.

I recently added the Priority Pass to my account and was very pleased with how fast the credentials arrived. It was less than a week!

How do I do this? Just call AMEX?

For 1), remember that codeshares do not count. DL or AA respectively must be operating the flight ("metal").

For 3), you just need some boarding pass, IIRC departing that day, but the beauty of PP is that it need not be from the same airline. In fact, many PP lounges are contract lounges and do not belong to a particular airline.

For the SPG benefit, you have to call AMEX and then they connect you to the Starwood agent.

I actually used the Starwood Gold status at FTU at the Sheraton Medowlands. It was nice not having to pay for internet.

For AA the rule is that it must be ticketed as an AA code but operating metal does not matter. For DL the metal matters.

And the authorized users aren't free. Might be worth the cost, but that should be considered.

Also, my experience has been that I have to call Amex every year to have them reinstate my Gold status, which for some reason resets itself to non-elite.

So, on getting a Priority Pass for each authorized user, it seems I'll need to make each of them a separate Amex login? Or can I add their Platinum cards to their existing Amex logins that they have for their own cards?

There might be other ways. This is making it quite hard work for yourself.

I recently discovered an additional benefit to the PLT card just last week. The AirSpace Lounge in BWI in terminal D (it is the only lounge in the D terminal) grants you free admission with the PLT or Centurian Card (no need for priority pass or anything else). This was a suprise find in BWI and with the PLT card you get a free light meal or 1 free drink at the bar. This is in addition to the other stuff that you generally expect in a lounge.

Don't forget about Centurion lounges as well. So far there are only two - LAS and DFW, but more are coming.

SFO and Miami. I think SFO should be ready when I fly through there in late August and early Sept.
