Just received a letter in the mail today from the Marco Polo Club.

Just like the title suggests, AMEX Platinum Cardholder's will no longer get CX Gold membership instantly. Holders will start from Green tier and work their way up to Gold through club sector/miles qualifications.

However, the upside to this is that their tier requirements are much easier/shorter than non-Platinum card holders.

30,000 Club Miles or 20 Club Sectors - Gold
Fly 1 Club Sector in First or Business Class on Cathay Pacific or Dragonair - Silver
    None - Green

Versus Current Marco Polo Club Members (non-Amex Platinum)

60,000 Club Miles or 40 Club Sectors - Gold
30,000 Club Miles or 20 Club Sectors - Silver
    4 Club Sectors - Green

Really sad to see this change as I do use the MPC gold often.

I know that no one likes it when something is taken away from them, however in this case it's still a pretty good deal.
I'm in Asia a fair amount of the time, and let me tell you....qualifying to get Gold status on CX (60,000 miles), ain't no easy task. At 30,000 miles to continue getting Gold status, is a no brainer.

Yup, pretty much flying an RT in premium cabin will satisfy that.
