If I have a Personal Platinum AMEX and cancel the card do I have to wait 12 months before I am able to apply for the Mercedes Platinum card?

Assuming you meant to add, " ... and get the signup bonus"?
I believe the Ts&Cs of the MBPlat changed last year to that effect.
    Anyone have personal experience?

I have the Personal Platinum through the Ameriprise deal with $0 first year fee and no sign up bonus so would that affect things?

I believe I've read that, in practice, having the business version does not exclude you, but any personal version does.
YMMV, and I have no direct experience.

Thanks for the help!! Does "existing" mean hold the card or for 12 months cancellation after as well? Basically I know that for the AMEX cards in general you need to wait over 12 months from cancellation to apply for the same card again and get the bonus, but I was wondering if this was considered the same card requiring the 12 months OR a different product, not requiring the 12 months.

Thanks. Yes, I understood your question. What I'm saying is this: They USED to be treated as separate cards for that purpose but I believe that changed last year.

    Follow up questions! haha
If you are an authorized user on a certain card can you still apply for your own version? If I make my father an authorized user of my AMEX Platinum could he still apply for his own at some point or would I have to take away his authorization on my card?

Yes, yes, and no, in that order.

All correct as I understand the rules. Like Ed, no personal experience. Got the MB (about to cancel) when the Platinum personal and MB Personal were treated separately.

Anyone have direct experience with whether or not you can get the signup bonus for the premier rewards gold if you already have the business gold? I've heard it both ways.
