It would be nice of you to mention that the link is a personalized one where you benefit when someone signs up for the card.

  3. +1 and he/she does it for other chains as well. A paid charlatan!!

Thanks. As you pointed out, this is a referral program. When sign up the card through the referral link, the referee will get 10k more miles than signing up directly from Amex, and the referer will get 10k referral bonus as well.

As already mentioned a few times, there are referral links (see my signature below) that can make you get more miles/points if you apply through them to get your Amex cards.

For the Gold and Aero Gold there is no fee the first year and you can get 25K and 30K respectively by spending at least $500 within the first 3 months. Did I mention there is no fee the first year? That makes those points/miles free!

To get more points (or miles if you want to tranfer Amex points to Aeroplan or Avios) AND to get Oneworld Gold status AND Priority Pass AND $200 credit for travel expenses every year AND Gold status with Club Carlson AND Gold status with SPG AND . . . you can also get the Amex Platinum, which come with a 60K sign up bonus if you spend $1,000 within the first 3 months, but that one doesn't have the annual fee waived for the first year, though.
