Just received (undated) mail from Ameriprise that their word elite mastercards' VIP Priority Passes will be renewed as Select Priority Passes after October 1, 2011; the difference being United & Continental lounge access is gone. Current-issue PPs are still good at UA/CO lounges until expiration.

The "new travel benefits" to lessen the sting are:
Mastercard PriceAssure (basically, notification and rebooking service for airfare bought on the card).
Trip delay coverage, including weather-related air travel delays (also must be booked on the card).
Annual $50 airline travel credit ( or $200 credit for high prior-year card usage).
2 Delta lounge passes, while supplies last.

Also, the 1 1/2 % cashback remains, as does the single-digit APR for balances carried.

This card is not free, but is still less than most others with travel-related bells & whistles.
