Is there more info through one of the links on the side? We've known about LAX-LHR for awhile now.

Would love to get on one of these flights but I am boycotting the taxes charged to fly to LHR.

There are only crazy extra taxes to leave the UK, not to fly in.

You can return from Ireland or many other nearby countries and skip the APD.

Isn't AA underutilizing this aircraft on route from JFK-LHR? This aircraft has good endurance.

No, not really. This release was the formal announcement of the routes we already knew. During the Farnbourough Air Show all sorts of formal announcements are being made about things previously discussed but nto formally confirmed and this is one of them.

According to AA the retrofits of 767's will begin in 2014, the same year that their 42 787's begin to arrive. I'd speculate that EZE, GIG and other very long routes will get 787's before the 767 refitting happens and the 767's then would be used on shorter routes where the fuel cost disadvantage would be less serious. However all that is at least two years out. In the meantime we're tired! Unluckily for us nobody will be likely to put new equipment on our routes before then. 2014 should see a large surge in new equipment for GIG due to the World Cup, but that will be far more for Europe than the US.

Are you referring to the one flight from DFW?

Beginning August 20th EZE will be all 777. I suspect DFW may go back to the 767 in the off season, but EZE will see 5 777s a day in the high season (1 DFW, 3 MIA, and 1 JFK).

AA issued a press release on the LAX route info on July 5 and intentions with GRU/LHR quite awhile back. I guess I'm just a little confused on if I'm missing something that's new in the article or if it's just confirming what AA already put out?

Again, no, you're missing nothing. The earlier announcements did not include the industry kings all together at Farnbourough so they formally issued the announcement of all of them together. My guess is that Boeing wanted as much buzz as they could get, that AMR fit nicely together with the new order announcement of Air Lease and the 737MAX. That, too, we fully expected and semi-announced not long after the initial AMR order for the 737MAX. However, everyone wants announcements during the air show when the world is breathlessly hanging on for news.

Gotcha, I guess I quibble a bit on labeling this news when it seems more like PR promotion of information that we and the public have already been notified about. Regardless, I'm awaiting the first Asian route to use 773. Hopefully NRT. :)

The probably more newsworthy announcement of AA was the formal announcement that these ten aircraft will be the only ones to have international First Class once the fleet renovation is incomplete. All the existing 777's and most 767's will be converted to the lie-flat business product. All in all this is probably a wise business decision by AA.

This was announced at a press/blogger event (and in subsequent releases) back in May, though.
