Seems like there is a new round of American Express platinum 100k MR offers going around. My wife just received one today in the mail... Just in time for her next AOR... Anyone else getting them?

Can you actually use someone else's code?

I have tried twice with different codes and the answer has been no each time.

I've received a couple recently - that's actually why I joined this website. Trying to do a comparison of card programs. Can I assume this is one of the better ones? Sorry, to be so naive, just never taken the time to really compare

Yes, you can. 100,000 Membership Rewards points is a fantastic sign-up offer (assuming you can meet the minimum spend needed to earn the points). But unless you want to pay a $450/year annual fee, you're going to want to cancel the Platinum Card before the annual fee comes due - and before you do that, you need to either transfer all the MR points to an airline or hotel program, or open another AmEx card that earns MR (such as the very affordable Everyday Preferred card, which only costs $95/year, or the no annual fee Everyday card) in order to keep the MR points from disappearing when the Platinum Card is closed.

    Hint hint,

We had an Indy female member post that she received one a few months ago, then she went to Vegas...

Sounds like an AA deal...everyone could use an extra 100k.

Is this for the personal platinum or the business platinum? I'm aware of people calling in to get the 100k business offer, even though they are not targetted and do not have an "RSVP code." But unclear if this works for the personal amex platinum.

I got the offer but wonder if yearly fee is too much. Does anyone else see the value in this any more?

I love the card. You have to ensure you use the benefits.

The card is not for everyone. But I do like it.

I've been keeping my card, the $200 dollar rebate on an airline is good, plus maybe $30 in Amex offers that I use, priority pass and the great centuries lounges. I'm sure I don't get the full $450 but it's a nice mix of perks.

I will drop my wife's card. Since she travels with me it's not worth $175 for her perks. I'll just play the guest price for her at priority pass lounges.

I dropped my card because of customer service issues and frequently being "audited" even though the balances were paid off before the "audit". After cancellation I received a Centurion card invitation.

I'm sure this is just a one off situation but besides that this is an excellent card :)

I got in in July so the first year will only cost me $50 since can get $200 airline credit each calendar year (not card year). I have an Airspace lounge in my home airport so I get to use that plus I frequently connect via SFO so I can use the Centurion lounge. I make use of the SPG Gold status.

Yup, which makes it the "F" concourse, and near the air-side connector to the "G" concourse of the international terminal, so the lounge might actually be more convenient for many in the "G" concourse than people flying out of some of the further-away "F" and "E" gates.

Flying out of the international terminal on AC in a few weeks, but plan to get there 'early' to check out the new Centurion lounge. Enjoyed the LAS lounge, so must try this one and reacquaint myself with Vesper :)

Hopefully your flight will depart from the "G" concourse:

    http://www.flysfo.com/flight-info/airlines-at-sfo

"Air Canada operates from the International Terminal, Boarding Areas A and G, Gates A1 through A12, and G91 through G102."

(A and G are not connected at air side)

It will depart from "A" - but I do not mind the walk - it is not that long a trek IMHO.

The centurion lounge at LGA is before security. Is this the same case for SFO?
