Thanks for this. It is always nice to see thought, especially when it runs counter to opportunism.
I've been happy with my experiences on AA. The agent at the AC in ATL saw my DM tag on Monday...she made a funny comment that they could become one...my reply was to the effect that I did not diversify my flying for them to become one.
I would like to see AA remain on their own, as would many others, I'm sure. I like having multiple options!

After seeing the recent 2 mergers of airlines, I think AA should really go on its own instead of merging with other carriers.
Like many others, I really hope that AA does not merge.
My main concerns would be the devaluation of my AA miles and fear of less competiton causing major fare hikes...
My own reasons for favoring AA remaining independent are quite simple. I think there is quite enough concentration in this industry, and AA seems quite large enough for me, especially when considering OW..
