Some had speculated that a 787 would be used, but a 77W makes more sense.

With this new route, the success of DFW-HKG and F demand for LHR and GRU, I wonder if AA will expand its 77W fleet beyond the 20 planned.

    The press release.

This going to be AA metal? If so, any ideas when the flights will post? Did a quick search and it all shows up as operated by Qantas.

Yes, curious minds would certainly like to know when these seats are available - perhaps it will be a bit easier to book as an award flight than on Quantas using AA miles?

It still won't be easy, but I doubt that it will be as tough as QF.

I'm just excited at the prospect of using a SWU. Happy to pay cash to use them to get down under.

A quick glance at the AA award search engine shows award steerage class seating available, with almost no business class availability on AA flights to SYD. :(

The flight still isn't loaded yet, so there's no AA metal to SYD for seats to be available on ;)

Yes, you are right. But you can now travel on AA award miles on HA and QF metal. Just don't expect to be sitting in anything other than coach seating. :(
