I wonder if this ends DFW-ICN at some point.
Very interesting that they both operate the same route on the same equipment at the same time and entered into a codeshare.
Not surprised, given the love that DL has shown to its Skyteam partner, KE.
I recall the departure times are very opposite of each other, the DFW-Asia flights kind of suck as most leave so early in the morning, you have to take a stupid early flight and/or have a tighter connection. I think my ORD-DFW-ICN in April is a 40min connection.
Now if we can book C/F awards on KE this will be amazing.
Ok It looks like in April they make the schedule changes to be a later flight out.
Departure wise they are both currently scheduled for exactly 1030. KE has a 1600 arrival into ICN, AA has 1645. Now on the return they have 1100 with KE and 1800 with AA... and with a 1535 arrival that flight leaves few choices for connections at DFW, just like the morning departure. Naturally KE can use their plane for whatever they like from ICN, AA can either let the plane sit or send it back from whence it came.
Oh well. Be interesting to see what happens.
Lest we forget, the disdain appears to have been mutual. In any event SkyTeam started with AF and DL in a meeting held at Saint Paul de Vence (a place Randy visited often at the time on unrelated business IIRC). It always has been much more about DL/AF than about anything else. Is that changing? I do not know.
For KL making nice with AA has a host of tactical advantages and just might help them navigate some difficult shoals, assuming Cathay Pacific and JAL are not unduly offended.
Given codesharing, it's likely KE will be selling a fair number of seats in C on AA meaning fewer for upgrading alas. BTW which lounge does AA use at ICN? If KE's would ExecPlats have access to the F lounge vs the general business one?
EXP is given OZ F lounge at ICN.
It's probably safe to assume that AA codeshare customers on KE metal will have access to the KE lounge and probably OZ too. Trifle odd, but hardly unprecedented in the strange world of codeshares.
Thanks. Familiar with that one from flying OZ a few times in F. They have JWBlue at the self-serve bar... IIRC isn't there a CX lounge across from the satellite OZ lounge?
KE is across from the OZ lounge. They had Ballantines 21 when I was leaving in Nov/Dec
