We've all experienced annoying airport flight delays, but most of the time we never learn the reason for the hold-up. However, on a recent American Airlines flight from Dallas to Jackson Hole http://www.jacksonhole.com/indexx.html the Captain himself gave us a little too much information, leading me to wonder if someone had injected him with truth serum.

I think I heard at the Bomdardier tour (SMD3) someone mention that its not Duct tape, but airplane Duct tape! :D

When in doubt, use duct tape, though I suspect the passengers probably were considering another use for it! :p

Pilot "oh by the way, as we take off, I will need to take a leak in the washrooms" Otto will look after the controls during this time

Well, I am sure what they were using was SPEED tape, which looks similar to duct tape from a distance, but at ~ $90 per roll, that is where the similarity ends.

Great post! I love the honesty of the pilot but couldn't imagine how I would feel if they did not switch planes after hearing about the issues delaying the flight...

Good ol duct tape, that stuff is great!! I'd take that Captain anyday. I'd rather be informed than sitting there for hours wondering what's going on.

I wish the pilot whould have offered interested passengers the opportunity to view the approach training video of landing in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I would even buy popcorn and snacks for the entire viewing audience.
