Hey guys, I have amassed around 556k AA advantage miles, I am wondering the best ways to redeem them/make money on them/or sell them because I wont be traveling anytime soon due to a DUI conviction.

What do you guys do with your miles besides travel with them? Thanks!

Selling them is against the program rules.

You can redeem AA miles for gift cards.

    https://www.points.com/pdccontent/pages/2011/Sept/AA_redeem/

    Or magazines:

    https://subscription.points.com/magazines.htm?execution=e1s1&lp=American&cid=cid

How long is "anytime soon"? You could just redeem small quantities and keep the account alive for up to 18 months after the redemption.

It is against AA's rules to sell or "barter" them & AA has a special unit to police large &or obvious violations, which trolls Craigslist, Ebay, brokers who advertise in USA Today, etc. If you're caught, they can cancel the tickets and confiscate all or a portion of your miles as a punishment!
It is generally safe to give/ sell to someone you know face to face or a friend of such a friend. Because if they suspect something, they'll ask how you & the passenger know each other. So if you can prove that s/he's your brother-in-law's sports teammate or your neighbor or somebody to whom you would reasonably give a gift, it's usually OK.
BTW, if you're not prohibited from traveling due to probation/ jail, you can fly somewhere where the attractions incl. bars are within walking distance or with excellent public transit, so you need not rent a car!

Is the "Not traveling anytime soon due to DUI conviction" mean
    1) You are not allowed to leave the country?
    2) You will not be allowed into another country (like Canada) because of the conviction?
    or ???
