This newish (opened in 2009 or 2010) aloft hotel is the only Starwood property near downtown Milwaukee. (The Sheraton and Four Points are located in western and northern suburbs respectively.) It's situated near the river, on the same side (west) as the sports arena, museum, and Marquette University (up the hill beyond the museum, not really walkable). Nearby on the other side of the river one finds the historic district and the downtown shopping area.

The hotel doesn't have its own parking, but a valet will put your car into a public garage for $23 per night. Sometimes you can get half-off parking on the hotel's website.

It's basically a standard aloft. I don't have strong impressions. However, try to get a room on the river side for the views.

Note that on any given day, which of the three SPG properties in Milwaukee is cheapest can vary, with no clear and consistent ordering of rates. At the same price point, I would avoid the Four Points but consider it a toss-up between the Sheraton Brookfield and the aloft and probably make the decision largely on the desired location.

This hotel sometimes offers special local rates to residents of nearby states. There are also some good packages associated with museum and cultural events, which can be lower than the best regular rates.
