Las Vegas based Allegiant Air has officially announced that it will be adding Airbus a319 aircraft to its fleet. The airline will lease 9 of the type from GE Aviation. Allegiant will also purchase an additional 10 of the type from Cebu Pacific of the Philippines.

The a319 is a brand new type for Allegiant, which currently operates MD-80′s on US mainland routes and 757′s on flights to Hawaii. The airline operates Low Cost flights across the United States with a focus on the Pacific Coast and Las Vegas. Allegiant is popular because it connects passengers in small cities that don’t get airline service otherwise to popular vacation destinations.

Paraphrasing a famous expression, it's not the aircraft type, it's how the airline configures it.

    Ah yes.

    Allegiant's famous no-frills "Cattle Class".

Or is it... "Kettle Class"?
