Beginning 1st June AZ will fly nonstop FCO-GIG in an Airbus A330 three times per week. On 28th June the frequency will increase to 4x per week. The flight is scheduled for 12 1/2 hours block time.

This adds to the growing list of increased international services for GIG

Alitalia announced today that 70% of the seats available on this route in June have already been sold since sales began in March. They also are adding another frequency to the flights GRU-FCO. Between Italy and Brazil, according to Marco Sansavini, Director of Sales, 55% of the passengers are brazilian, 33% Italian.
Probably because he was speaking in Rio de Janeiro Sansavini pointed out that Alitalia is receiving fice more Embraer jets this year, two 190 (100 seats) and three 175 (90 seats).

This was published in Valor today.

Other discussions suggest that Alitalia is benefitting form SkyTeam since Air France has such a large FlyingBlue population in Brazil and Delta has so many SkyMiles members. The fully flat business class seats are a factor for some of us, and I am already booked myself, mostly because of liking another easy way to get to NCE.
