Alaska Airlines acted promptly to help stranded hockey players

    The recent road trip of the Arctic Bears Girls Hockey Team to Anchorage must have set a record for bad breaks, though the girls did well on the ice, splitting a pair of games.

    The van and bus breakdowns of Friday and Saturday were mostly forgotten by the time assistant coach Matt Atkinson and his wife Carey pulled into Cantwell Sunday evening. He was driving a van filled with team equipment. She was driving the family car.

    At that moment the girls were still stuck in Anchorage, waiting for a plane, but the worst part of the trip appeared to be over.

    I've been to that Chevron in Cantwell quite a few times this year and can't believe that station actually blew up... It's quite close to Denali.

    Good on Alaska Airlines' part to offer a reduced rate and kudos to that parent for helping out!
