Airport arrival time for international trip with domestic connection?

  1. We are leaving tommorow from EWR to CDG, but we connect in Charlotte, NC. Since we change planes in Charlotte - is our EWR to CLT portion considered international or domestic in terms of arrival time to the airport? I guess my question is.. for a 1pm flight, what time should I get to the airport?

That flight is domestic. I usually plan on a one hour minimum at EWR, but if I am checking bags i usally give an additional 15 minutes or so. If you are flying Y I'd give it 1 1/2 hours rather than less because the lines can be long. The CLT copnnection will be easy, CLT is a really very easy connection airporet.

    have a good trip.

  3. Thanks. I didnt know if we needed to go through extra security precautions because our end destination is CDG therefore needing 2 hours instead of 1. Will we go through that in Charlotte then?

No, there is no additional security on exit. For some destinations, not usually CDG, they'll check passports (in CLT US case at the gate) but that is it. BTW, i don't ever allow 2 hours, despite what is said. the outbound process is simple.
