I have a confession to make. I haven't been on an airplane since November.

I did have a good run that month, 15 segments, including a wild ORD-MEM-BNA-MSP-PSA-CDG-SLC-BNA-ATL-ORD trip, earning 25k eqm's. That month I had the pleasure of a hat trick - rode on a CR-40, CR-50, CR-100, CR-200, CR-700 and CR-900, as well as an E75; but since Nov. 17 I've been on the ground, with nothing scheduled.

How do you deal with withdrawal? Am I even allowed in here after 11 weeks on the ground? [IMG]

I'm almost in the same boat as you Gargoyle, though I have had a couple of minor regional flights in January. But other than that, nothin, nada, zip since November too.

How to deal with the withdrawal? Well, if you ever do figure it out, please let me know! :D

I seem to have reverse withdrawl... The airplanes missed me so much, they sent a copy of Sky Mall to me. :)

Just get some bad food like a TV diner and sit on an undersized uncomfortable chair in the corner of a room.
If you can borrow some screaming kids from one of your neighbors and ask someone to shake you down and feel your niblets..
that should emulate the experience. (baggage fees excluded)

I will occassionally fire up my flight simulator on PC and fly around just to see an airport or airliner on the screen . Funny though when I send in my flight plan and screen shot to the airline after playing and claiming missing miles they seem to take their time posting the miles to my FF account.

You need to create a boarding pass in photoshop and send that to them. Once they receive it, your missing miles should post within 24 to 48 hours.

I still have zero on my UAL (and all) airline FF accounts -- it's never taken me so long to have a mileage earning flight. Since November (T-Giving weekend) and the start of the new TSA GropeFests, I've only taken one trip and that was an award trip to Canada. I don't even have much booked this year ... it's going to be interesting to see how the high fares and stupid security really impact the end of year stats.

I get withdrawal after being grounded for a week. My solution is to book another flight.

And cheap champagne and really bad wine.
You can also microwave some wet washcloths if you're used to flying up front.
I've been home since January 20, possibly a record.

Or good bubbles, good wine & spirits if flying a decent airline in premium cabin.

I am glad I am not alone. I haven't been to the airport since late December 2010. I feel bad. Put me in time out. ;)

It is tough to read or hear posting from people stating. "I need my IN & OUT fix near LAX." or "I am tired of this thing called snow." [IMG]

If I was in congress... I would request an earmark of funds for a 'people mover' or 'jetway' to and from my home. [IMG]

Perhaps that could be a milepoint status benefit? [IMG]

More miles.... more points. Leads to milepoint status benefit for all us. [IMG]

Something that I was considering between flights to make me feel more at home was buying a large bag of pretzels, bringing them home, resealing them into little pouches of 5 pretzels each, then smashing them. Then get a can of Coke, pour 2 ounces into a cup, plug my headset into an ipod that doesnt work, grab one pouch of smashed pretzels and sit on the floor behind my couch, staring at the back of the couch from 6 inches away, carefully balancing pretzels, cup of soda and ipod in my lap, because the fold down tray built into the back of my couch has a broken hinge. Then I could ask my wife for compensation since the furniture and ipod is broken, and she throws another pouch of pretzels at me and continues to proceed with the safety and security briefing. Next up, is trying to disable the smoke detector in the master bath.

Ah, the sensation that is aviation......

I get that way when I have no tickets booked... thankfully I just fixed that :) But on top of the terrible pretzels and ini glasses of coke, I find that when I haven't been flying (or spending my time on RJs/Dash-8s) I completely lose track of B-rated movies. Almost get tempted to start downloading some or wandering to the movie theatre (although these watching watchign a movie on anything more than a 9" screen seems wild).

  24. Grounded since September. Thankfully that will change this week. :)
