Airlines cancel 5,200 flights from impending blizzard
Easily half a million pax impacted (figuring an average of 100 per flight)
One wonders whether there is enough hotel space and also whether hotel staff will stay at the property or face an inability to get to work when the storm hits. Hopefully the hotels have enough food, although I was in a Boston blizzard a couple years ago when major downtown restaurants ran out of food.
It must be bad when a Minnesotan feels badly for all impacted on the East Coast.
2 to 3 feet of snow around NY sounds bad to me. I'm looking at 58 degrees here in Kansas today. How's that for January. I just need them to clean it up by next week so my layover at PHL isn't a problem on the way to Europe. Yikes.
My nephew in MCI land said it's supposed to be 70 degrees F on Wednesday, so he's taking a half day off from work.
Crazy for January. We could actually use some rain or snow as it's been very dry here but I'm not complaining about the lack of Winter weather the last week or so. It was 64 degrees one day last week.
The problem is, when an area that usually gets extended deep freezes doesn't get those, the mosquito larvae and other pests can thrive, throwing the springtime ecosystem way out of balance.
