airline baggage costs

    By charging for luggage I find it annoying when 95% of the people bring huge carry on's to avoid fees.

    For long haul flights, they should really allow 1 free luggage per person. That will already make a difference.

    Yes, the amount of carry ons on a plane is going to eventually become an issue.

    Norwegian Air Line charged 19€ each way for checking one suitcase when we booked our flight on line, but also charged 36€ more each way for checking one suitcase at the airport. This is abuse. It was from Malaga to Tromso, indeed a long distance.

    It already has. United and Delta are starting to enforce using those 'sizers' at the gates. (You know, the ones the size of a lunchbox)

    Chicago Tribune had an article about that today. UA is starting to get really strict. Of course, they claim it's not about revenue, but just because their customers asked them to stop the "abuse". If they didn't charge for checking this wouldn't be much of an issue
