Before booking a flight, travelers may want to bring spare change for increased airline prices. According to The Denver Post, Frontier Airlines will charge some customers $100 for their carry on bags at the airport.

In a new effort, the Denver-based carrier wants to steer passengers towards booking their air travel directly from its website. For customers who book a Basic fare from third-party websites, Frontier will increase charges for carry-ons by the summer.

Passengers booking flights directly from FlyFrontier.com will automatically receive a free carry-on. Purchasing from a third-party site in advance will costs customers $25 per bag, The Washington Post reported.

There is a distinction between a carry-on bag and a personal item. A carry-on bag has to be placed in the overhead compartment while a personal item can fit securely underneath a seat.

I have never actually flown on Frontier, but I know our corporate travel system at times suggests Frontier instead of United on some Denver routes. Are those bookings subject to the third party rules?
