If you’ve always wanted to check out South Africa’s scenic wine region around Paarl and Stellenbosch just outside Cape Town, South African Airways is having a March Madness sale from its U.S. gateways. Airfare starts at $1,129 (U.S.) (includes fuel surcharges, but $205 in taxes are extra) for flights from New York or Washington, D.C., to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Dakar, Senegal. For additional fees, flights are also available to Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania, Uganda and Mauritius. Sale fares must be purchased by April 1 and can be booked through travel agents, by calling 1-800-722-9675 or at flysaa.com.

Is there a low season for travel to South Africa? Anyone know if fares to South Africa are reduced at certain times of year versus others? (i.e. their winter, rainy season?)
