Airfare prices are going crazy this summer. Okay, let me amend that: they're not the worst we've ever seen, but there are no steals. And it's likely to get worse for terminal procrastinators, so do not wait to the last minute. If you'll be traveling through early July, start shopping now.

Is any destination cheap this year?
Yes, but not in the conventional sense. Certainly not like some of the deals we saw in the summer of 2009 such as San Francisco to Honolulu for a round-trip total of $284. This year, your goal is to find the best of the not-so-hot deals.

Just paid $1280 to go to Italy in late May. The most I've ever paid for an airline ticket.

The prices from Dfw to Orlando are still very high on AA $360 to $400 plus a ticket. Since AirTran is gone from dfw AA has jacked up their fares. maybe they will drop now that spirit has opened up routes.
