Anyone have an idea of what kind of ammunition Air Marshalls use?

I'm guessing typical FMJ wouldn't be the best idea since they'd most likely pierce the fuselage.
    Maybe a low velocity frangible?

yes, from what i've heard its low velocity frangibles. The kind of thing that's basically a hollow bullet with shotgun shot on the inside. Designed to embed and quickly fragment itself inside of a target. Another step more fragile than hollow-points.

That should be good as personal defense rounds too.
