Like all airlines, seats on Air Canada are booked into fare 'buckets'. These buckets correspond not only to a given class of seat on the plane, but also a certain set of rules (refundable or not, change fees, minimum stay, etc...). For ease of use, Air Canada groups bunches of buckets with similar rules together.

As of February 4, 2011, the fare buckets are as follows:

For travel on flights within Canada and between Canada and the Continental U.S.A. (including Hawaii)

    Executive Flexible: J, C
    - Executive class
    - Miles are credited to Aeroplan at 150% of miles flown (minimum 750) and count toward Top Tier Status
    - Fully refundable

    Executive Lowest: D, Z
    - Executive class
    - Miles are credited to Aeroplan at 150% of miles flown (minimum 750) and count toward Top Tier Status
    - Non-refundable

    Upgrade Class: R
    - Executive class
    - Miles are credited to Aeroplan at 100% of miles flown (minimum 500) and count toward Top Tier Status
    - When an upgrade is processed, the ticket is re-booked into R from its original class
    - All attributes (refundability, fees, etc...) of the original class still apply

    Business Class Reward: I
    - Executive class
    - Miles are credited to Aeroplan at 0% of miles flown
    - Prior to the day of travel, all changes must be made through the rewards plan that issued the ticket

    Latitude: Y, B
    - Economy class
    - Miles are credited to Aeroplan at 100% of miles flown (minimum 500) and count toward Top Tier Status
    - Fully refundable
    - Upgradable under the Star Alliance Miles-for-Upgrade program and by Air Canada Top Tier members using e-Certificates
    - Upgrades are available at time of booking (space dependent)

    Tango Plus: M, U, H, Q, V, W, S, L, K, T
    - Economy class
    - Miles are credited to Aeroplan at 100% of miles flown (minimum 500) and count toward Top Tier Status
    - Non-refundable
    - Upgradable by Air Canada Top Tier members using e-Certificates (Note, M fares require less e-Certificates to upgrade than the other fares)
    - Upgrades are available either 7, 4 or 2 days prior to travel depending on the member's status (space dependent)

    Tango: A, N, G, P, E
    - Economy class
    - Miles are credited to Aeroplan at 25% of miles flown (minimum 125) and do NOT count toward Top Tier Status
    - Non-refundable

Yeah, an up-to-date one is invaluable. Realized I missed a few things (what class of travel they each are, reward classes, etc...) but until you hit 'silver status' you can only edit messages for 5 minutes after posting. I'll fix it up as soon as I can. :)

    Great job!

Just a minor correction: not all Latitude (B) fares are fully refundable, there are some int´l B fares , especially ex-EU or ex-Asia, which have a 100€/$100 cancellation fee.

There doesn't seem to be any of the sticky stuff around to put on the threads! :)

More seriously, we are waiting for Randy and his team to turn on the wiki capability for the reference information. We are standing by our keyboards at the ready!

I see. Those push pins would really come in handy for this as well as the FAQ thread.

No, so that he can correct the opening thread. And then we don't like any of his posts for eternity! :p Just kidding... :p

Ouch. Actually, Randy unlocked edit for the Beta period after enough of us complained so everyone has unlimited edit for now.

I think I've got the first post right now, but let me know if I'm missing anything.
