Air Australia abruptly grounded its fleet Thursday as the fledgling airline entered voluntary administration — the equivalent of a bankruptcy proceeding — seemingly after having run out of funds to maintain operations.

The carrier was previously known as Strategic Airlines since 2009 and rebranded as Air Australia three months ago.

In a statement posted on its website, Air Australia said its fleet will be grounded indefinitely meaning passengers with tickets already booked will have to make their own arrangements with other airlines.
