    Aeroplan parent enters Brazil

Aimia, the recently rechristened parent company of loyalty marketer Aeroplan, is flying down to Rio - and São Paulo. On Tuesday, the company that is still legally known as Groupe Aeroplan Inc. announced it had formed a joint venture with the Brazilian loyalty coalition network Multiplus that would focus on value creation through data analytics and insight for third-party loyalty marketers. The venture will expand Aimia's footprint in the South American market, which it entered last year with its launch of Nectar Chile. During an event in Toronto last month in which the Montreal-based company unveiled its new name, Aimia CEO Rupert Duschene identified Brazil, India, and Indonesia as markets that Canadian companies could not afford to ignore.
