Aegean to launch Gatwick-Athens route SOURCE: http://www.businesstraveller.com/news/aegean-to-launch-gatwick-athens-route Excellent news for Gatwick, passengers and Athens!
The load factors are higher than many would expect right now, it's not all bad news of course and yes, this route will be interesting to watch out for, many holidaymakers will use it to travel to the Islands via Athens. Regarding Aegean, it's a beautiful airline, had the pleasure to fly with them from time to time, I love them much, great service, nice cabins and food / drink offerings. We had plans to visit Athens again later in the year, but reading about security issues, robberies and the overall status on many web pages reconsidered our visit to the city and country for this year, having said this, we would love the visit in 2013 and hopefully things looking up after the 17th of June election. Will Greece stay in the euro zone? Will Greece grow again? That's what we watch out for right now and this will decide on our travel plans for this country in 2013. So far, we enjoyed Greece incl. Athens, Mykonos, Crete plus Spinalonga Island and Pireaus. Would love to see more in the future.
If you don't already know, Aegean (A3) is a member of *A and their FF program makes it relatively easy to get *Gold.
