Aegean purchased Olympic Air last year. The Aegean and Olympic programs are being combined and their terms will be changing. People have to re-qualify for gold status every year.

    Dundundun!

Honestly, saw that coming at some point. But at least it's still easy to qualify versus other FFP's.

" 4 Aegean/Olympic flights+12,000 miles or 24,000 miles per year to earn gold status." is not hard.

If one doesn't plan on taking any A3 flights to requalify then *G status with OZ will be easier since they only require 40K miles within 2 years.

The problem is with cheaper UA fares they credit at 50% or 500 mile minimum per segment (unless they change that too!). So depending on how you travel it might actually be better to go for UA Gold or the TK/OZ route (assuming you're a typical UA flier).

    My qualifying flight is Friday.

While there's a small chance I will (A) actually receive gold status before the program changes take effect and (B) get the full three years as a pre-existing gold there are many more ways I could lose out:
    1. Existing golds may immediately be subject to the one-year, not three-year term.
    2. Another program change is apparently that there will be three tiers, not two. Existing golds may well end up in the middle tier and who knows if that will continue to carry Star Gold status or not?
    3. The new requirements could become effective this year, not next, in which case I will have about 20,030 miles -- not enough to even make the program for next year. Furthermore, those miles are divided between 2013 and 2014 so, under the new rules I presumably could not qualify by flying an additional 4K miles in 2014.
I'm hoping against hope to get grandfathered into 3 years of gold status, expecting to get 1 year, and resigned to get pretty much nothing.

    Got this email today:

    Welcome to the new Miles+Bonus

    Dear member,

We are happy to inform you that the new Miles+Bonus; the common loyalty program of Aegean and Olympic Air; is coming on the 24th of November to reward your trust, with even more benefits, additional services and new partnerships.

In the new Miles+Bonus, the common reward program of Aegean and Olympic Air:

    • We have designed an even fairer way of accruing and redeeming miles, since the final amount of miles corresponding to each flight will be the result of both the fare category and the actual miles flown (for international flights).
    • We offer more redemption options (based in the GoLight/Flex pricing policy) so that you can select your award ticket using less or more miles, according to your travel needs.
    • We introduce new services, as per your request:
      • “Together” program that allows up to 6 people to collect miles into a common account.
      • “Happy Miles” service that allows you to redeem less miles in pre-selected flights.
    • We launch a new “Silver” tier to offer significant benefits to its members, while all at once we enrich the benefits of the current tiers. At the same time, we are changing the way to upgrade and retain tier.
    • We keep expanding our partner network to give you plenty of choices, as well as multiple ways to earn and spend miles, get exclusive discounts and enjoy privileges simply by displaying your Miles+Bonus card.
Kindly note that the new Silver Tier will be granted to the Blue members that have accrued more than 8,000 Tier Miles (including at least 2 flights with Aegean or Olympic Air) or 16,000 Tier Miles in total, within the past 12 months from the new Miles+Bonus launch date. Current Gold members will be automatically transferred to the Gold Tier, regardless of their past flight activity.

Find out everything about the new Miles+Bonus here.

    Best regards,
    Miles&Bonus

Shocking! A3 doesn't want to pay lifetime lounge charges for a bunch of MPers/FTers who stop crediting miles after 20K A3 miles!

I didn't get too torqued when A3 made this foolish move, even
though it took me 5000% of that amount of flying to get my
lifetime *G. Figured it wouldn't last.

Can't say we didn't see that one coming. It was too good to be true, but great while it lasted.

Found a trip from AMS to GRU via IAH and back on United in V class, about 19800 miles for 745 euros, thats already about half the required miles.
