I have an NYC <-> BUD trip coming up and am looking at this itinerary (outbound Lufthansa in U, return Swiss in W):

    LH 411 JFK 6:40PM MUC 7:50AM 8h 10m Airbus A330 Economy (U)
    LH 1680 MUC 3:15PM BUD 4:30PM 1h 15m Airbus A320 Economy (U)

    LX 2251 BUD 9:30AM ZRH 11:20AM 1h 50m Fokker 100 Economy (W)
    LX 14 ZRH 12:55PM JFK 4:00PM 9h 5m Airbus A330 Economy (W)

The fare classes are (or appear to me, anyway) to earn miles.

My question: will these earn as two trips (JFK to BUD and BUD to JFK), or will each segment earn separately? Since LH appears to earn 1000 flat miles for cross-border intra-European flights, it means a reasonable bonus on the 350 mile flight.

(Coming back, Swiss earns 100% on that leg with a 500 mile minimum and the air distance is -- 500 miles exactly!)

Should credit as each segment. Yes, you sometimes get extra points that way, just like the 500 mile minimums in the USA sometimes.

Although, looking more carefully, LX 2251 is operated by "Helvetica" and probably doesn't earn anything. . .
