I'm sad to say that I let right at 40K points expire on my husband's AA account. We had purchased a vacation home and were spending all our time there and it didn't look like we would be traveling anymore. However, an opportunity presented itself for us to vacation in and around Rome this December. I can re-acquire the expired points for $200 - I'm guessing it's worth it since that would be a round trip ticket for him in coach. Questions: Is it worth the $200 to re-acquire them? What CC(s) should I apply for to acquire the additional 40K I need for my ticket? I'm not looking for a continuing mileage builder strategy as we truly will probably not travel anymore after this trip. I'd like to fly on AA or BA or AB and I'm confused as to which CC rewards go with which airlines. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.
