Adventure Travel With a Serious Illness
Many people dream about heading off on a global adventure after a diagnosis. One writer did.

This Wall Street Journal article is a first-hand account of a world-traveler who went on a 6-month adventure travel sojourn following a serious diagnosis (end stage renal failure with anemia). It is well worth reading about this woman's indomitable spirit for travel, and the support of her husband, family, friends, and most importantly, her physician:

The key here is she has a chronic condition that had not yet effected her health. Really other than the fear and need to get lab work it had little effect on her. Had she not recieved a transplant she could have continued to travel well on dialysis as long as she was at a clinic every two days. So no grand treks.
