Additional 10kg luggage allowance for all SQ passengers

    Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced today that all passengers on Singapore Airlines and Silkair flights will be allowed to check in an additional 10K in baggage starting November 15.

    “Increasing baggage allowances across all classes of travel is in response to feedback from our customers,” stated Mr Chin Yau Seng, SIA senior vice president for sales and marketing, “and reaffirms our commitment to constantly enhancing customer service.”

    The new luggage allowance will now be:

    - Economy Class: 30kg (up from 20kg)
    - Business Class: 40kg (up from 30kg)
    - First Class and Suites Class: 50kg (up from 40kg)

    that is great news, I contacted Asiana and they also have something called xbag now which allows pax to take an extra 10kg's. But only on routes where planes with 2 isles fly. (no B737 or A320 single isles) Good news from carriers like EK, OZ, SQ in this regards is marketing in the opposite spirit from american carriers that try to give you less allowance and charge tremendously.
