I recently had an "issue" with a hotel in which additional GP's were added to my account. it wasn't my issue (ie, i didn't complain and in no way was upset) ...it was the hotel's pro-active gesture.

In the email, the GM states..."I have added this incident to your guest stay profile...." What?

Remember in school - you were told "this will go in your permanent record"?

Uh oh, Is this the hotel version of a permanent record?

I don't know for a fact - but my conjecture is that "he" added it to your profile at the property - so that in the future, they'll recognize your earlier problem and "make it up" to you in some way. I've heard of similar situations occurring at many properties - basically a note to their staff to "take special care" of you in the future.

Maybe reply to the GM and find out what's going on. It'd be better to have a clean record at this hotel than some bonus points, IMO.

i completely agree, but before I could do so, found out that peteropny was correct....

The incident was noted because we were so " nice" .... and they want to insure when we return it is not repeated.
(a 15 minute late check-in for which we got a $25 bar credit and 5k in points? Heck, I will wait every year!)

Probably just added some notes to your profile about the inconvience you had during this stay and I assume they made you a V8 at the hotel. So the hotel is aware of your return and can serve you better.

Its one of the VIP levels Hyatt uses they are V1 to V7 and then V8 is for a customer that has encountered a problem during a previous stay or a person that complains a lot.

Seems like there is a major difference between the customer who encountered a problem and the one who complains a lot. Seems strange that they lump them together into a category. I guess that means I'd not want to be flagged a V8.
