    AC:Standby Question
I've never flown standby on the ever busy
    AC:15 YYZ to HKG sector.
Is there a standby counter somewhere in T-1?

I did that once about 8 years ago due to IRROPS. As I recall, it was just a matter of waiting at the gate to be assigned a seat (or not). No special counter. Of course, things might have changed since then!

Yes, you need to wait at the gate on standby. Some they clear before boarding, but many are cleared (or not) only after regular boarding is done. This can be tough if you are used to being "zone 1" and need some overhead bin space, but really you are at the GA mercy.

They now clear upgrades 35 minutes prior to flight time which allows zone one 1 types to still get on early.
