I was on an E90 this am and it was beyond full. I only booked it yesterday and thus no upgrade( first miss in well over a year). Sat in emergency row with three other SE's. having paid a full fare for my ticket I was astonished when the FA said I would have to pay for the headset. That's pretty grubby stuff by AC.

It is these little things that rankle. Latitude fare and they want 3$ for crappy headsets. But you got your meal. No?

I thought Latitude fair was supposed to give you a choice of food? I never fly Latitude so who knows I guess.

It really depends on the crew. From time to time, when I'm sitting in the back (admittedly on long haul), the SD will come back to my seat to chat, or offer free headphones or a J blanket, or some other little thing that makes me happy I'm flying AC, even if I'm sitting in the back.

That is a nice gesture. However it differs from what someone is entitled to base on ticket purchased ... No?

Absolutely. Not entitled to it. Nor do I expect it. So it feels all that much better when it happens, as a surprise. Random acts of kindness (or recognition), I suppose.

Kind of the same effect as Chocolates for the Crew, but in the other direction. :)

I may have digressed somewhat from your question, which in turn had digressed from the original topic ... ;)

That must be the case. There were 3 SE's sitting in the emergency row and not once did any crew come by to ask about us. When the headsets were being passed out I asked how much and she said $3. So, if they were supposed to be free I was not told and, to be honest, I didn't ask as I do have my own.

So, to return to the original topic, any guesses as to where the expansion will be? The story refers to Asia and South America, with Rouge being a big piece of the expansion. That would suggest that Rouge is a pretty good profit generator.

    Where should the mainline expand?

I would not be surprised to see mainline expand to some select destinations in South America also

Should? Several Cities in China....Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen among others. Some southern India Cities and a Punjabi city in the north. They would love to fly to Tehran, Beirut and probably Dubai/Abu Dhabi but won't due to political restrictions or security arrangements with the US. In some cases their unions are opposed on grounds of personnel safety. I have heard talk about JNB/CPT.

What cities in SA do you see them serving that are not served today?

I could see Cartagena but with rouge. I'd like to see LIM go back to mainline. Eventually Santiago and Buenos Aires will likely get their own flights.

With the 77L's being freed up from dedicated service to SYD, HKG and PVG, JNB would be a great use for that aircraft (Even a 787-9 would probably struggle Westbound).
