Does it take five and a half hours to fly from YVR to ANC? Or did the flight turn back?

If the passengers left Wednesday morning with the replacement aircraft, this would mean that they overnighted at Anchorage, right? I'm assuming that the flight originally left YVR late on Tuesday, but the ariticle doesn't make the timing clear.

It actually flew past ANC and then went back. I'm assuming that's how CBC calculated the 5.5 hours.

YVR-ANC would probably be around 3.5 hours ish.
