I like the logo, but eh on the tail ... =/ Too busy imo
I actually like this.
I sort of wish they kept the tail more simple and stuck with their three stripes logo that is on the front of the plane, though I think I need to see what the tailflag looks like in person to really appreciate if they pulled it off or not.
The comments on facebook are brutal though... mostly about whether or not they're just repainting the same 20 year old planes.
FB posts are always brutal. They're just mixing the new logo/livery into the standard vitrol they're spewing daily.
That being said, I'm confused on why we have this new thread when the existing thread has two pages of posts already? Everyone's free to do what they want, but why split the discussion?
Bc this is
Bc thankfully this is not flyertalk and you don't get flamed for starting a thread! yipee!
I don't think it's flaming, it's a legitimate question about why we'd want to jump between two threads to see what people are talking about vs. all talking about the same exact thing in one spot.
Flaming would be, "WE HAVE A THREAD, DO A SEARCH".
Asking, "Hey, let's all talk about this topic in one place?" is far from flaming IMHO particularly when the other existing thread has tons of posts and isn't festering in the archives somewhere.
Perhaps no flaming, but you do have to admit that it does dilute the quality of both threads when duplicates are posted.
I like the logo, but the tail on the livery is pretty tacky. They had such an iconic brand before, they could have done better. I tweeted that I didn't like it and they replied, defending it:
I agree --the flag on the tail is a bit too much. I do like the updated logo though...and like the livery on the rest of the plane.

I'm liking the tail - Bold and definitely like the stylized eagle
Live press conference that is...
I think this will grow on me but to be honest, if the plane didn't say "American" on it, I would have thought this was a new Air France plane.
I know I'm supposed to see the American flag in the tail but by just glancing at it, I saw blue, white and red and no stars.
Ok, I just threw up my breakfast. I liked it better without that nonsense.
Yeah, I think the blue stripes look non-American
Press: What influence did the possible merger with US have on the new logo? Horton: None.
Sort says: NASCAR, Bud and NRA
Don't knock them. Nascar can pack 150,000 in places in the middle of nowhere, millions of people think the swill that is Bud is the best, and the NRA can keep politicians paralyzed for years. Seems like some good brands to emulate for marketing
777 on the new livery
I really like the front of the plane, and the overwhelming amount of white/silver space that's been maintained - very classy IMHO. Maybe the tail will grow on me, but after such simplicity from the nose and through the body, the tail kind of feels overdone and frantically designed. I like the new fonts and logo.
Really, there's nothing I can do about it so I'll take the change in stride and worry more about what's on the inside and if it gets me where I'm going comfortably, on-time and safely.
Nice. As I said earlier somewhere, it's definitely growing on me.
Have they published an MD-80 photo in the new livery yet?
Are those real videos or renderings of the new livery on top of an old 777? If so, the renderings are amazing looking. I can barely tell if it's real or not.
