How timely, considering I was just lamenting in another thread on the forum how I thought the AA apps was pretty awful.

The new iPad app is a vast improvement over the previous offerings IMHO. Very modern, very sleek. Doesn't feel like it was made with Geocities in 1997. Still some issues with the app routing you to the website to do things (change seat for example), but overall it's a great new look.

Some interesting design choices made on the color scheme in some areas that seem to be a departure from what we traditionally would associate with the AA brand too.....

I've included some screen shots below. If you've got an iPad, go test it out.

Looks nice. I see there's an update for the iPhone app as well. Haven't installed yet, but maybe some of this transferrs to that app, too.

It's similar but not the same. Less wow factor, but updated none the less.

I saw it earlier today, used it on the iPhone. Agree it looks better, also room to make it better.

I know there is Passbook integration in this new version, but I really wish there would be a one-touch iOS calendar download like UA has.....I found that extremely helpful.

Haven't used the UA app, but that does sound like a really nice feature. Right now I'm sending stuff to Tripit and from there into iCal.

With all the talk of a new AA logo/livery could this be a hint towards their new one?

I just updated mine, and besides the color scheme there is no much difference than it was before, they still lack a virtual elite card like sephora or Starbucks! And their applications are very limited redirecting you to the website all the time! It would e nice to book a flight on the app only without the need of going to a browser!

Updated mine last night and noticed a glaring issue... My SWU's are not displayed... as in the screenshot above by DesitinationDavid.

Just an FYI, Android got the update too. Very nice looking, but very similar in functionality. In some places it's actually difficult to read the text because of the color scheme.

I've heard others having that issue as well, but my screenshot is not a reflection of that. I actually have zero SWUs right now. Burned through all mine already and just got off my requalifying flight, so no new ones for 2013 deposited yet. :)

    Mine too.

Also it seems the iPad app thinks you can change seats on code shares. It bounces you to the website which then says you can't. While I was out there I did secure my first MCE seat, but my upgrade will clear and I won't get to try it I'd imagine.

Some folks seem to think it is. I'm not privy to that kind of information. Guess we will see. ;)

You're miscalculating a bit. I'm right around 100K BIS a year. Remember that the MM program previously counted bonus miles from flying and credit cards. Not that I ever had much of that, but it accounts for some of those miles.

Was just playing around on the app, and noticed in the menu that there's an item called "Drink Coupons." If you look at DestinationDavid's second screen shot, it appears right below "Mobile Boarding Pass" in the latest app version. Anyone know what the drink coupons are? If I select it, I just get an icon of a martini glass and a message that says "You currently have no available drink coupons." How do I get drink coupons?!!!

It's one of the "buy up" options on the new "improved" flight search interface on AA. If you pay more to get a "choice plus" package, you get a "premium beverage" as part of it. Discussed in this thread:
